Assigning old Contact to a new Incident, fails on save

Hi

After assigning an existing Contact to a new Incident using the automation context object, I see an error at EditorCommand.Save. The error reads: "Please correct the following fields: Contact is required."

The Contact is correctly assigned, and can be seen in the field, but the record is not saved because of the popup. Saving it manually immediately after the popup works. I've tried this with/without RefreshWorkspace, and lots of other variations, but cannot get this to work reliably.

Is there something I'm missing? Code is attached.
