Querying Contacts in an AddIn

Hello,

I am new to Addin development.

Is there a way to query Contacts from within an Addin that does not require you to use SOAP?

Is there any example code snippets that show items such as these?

Currently, I can get the contact from an Incident but I would like to get a full list and or query other contacts.
