Update Custom field name - Programmatically

Hi All,

I have a requirement to update a Custom field menu name programatically. Have searched around forum and documentation, it only states of setting values on creation and updation of records, not changing name of the menu item(not label).

Eg: Assume I have a menu items - Item_1, Item_2 and Item_3. Can I rename Item_1 to It_1 programmatically?

So, basically changing the data model of menu?
